Northern Water Works Development Agency (NWWDA) hosted the 31st edition of World Water Day which was held in Samburu County on 22nd March 2023. The chief guest was PS Water and Sanitation Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh. The activities of the day included a visit to Yamo Dam, Courtesy call to the Governors’ Office, Samburu County where the PS witnessed Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Non-Revenue Water between Northern Water Works Development Agency and County Government of Samburu. The PS also lead the tree planting exercise at Lodokejek Secondary School.
The peak of the celebration was commissioning of a Lodokejek water project at Lodokejek Primary School which was the venue of the World Water Day celebrations whose theme was “accelerating change”. The PS also commissioned a one-acre demonstration farm (Supported by National Irrigation Authority and SMACH Foundation- whose patron is Charlene Ruto) at the school. He also visited exhibitions mounted by various stakeholders in water sector including NWWDA.
Present during the event were HE H.E. Jonathan Lati Lelelit, Governor Samburu County, Samburu County Commissioner, Dr. John Ltalipen Lekuton, Director Northern Water Works Development Agency Board, CPA Andrew Rage Acting CEO, Northern Waterworks Development Agency, Hon. Josephine Naisula Lesuuda Samburu West MP among other dignitaries and stakeholders.
NWWDA is committed to continuing implementing and championing “change-measures” as its mission, and also as part of the broader goals of the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation.
